Bishop Landon B. Mason
Biographical Data Bishop Landon B. Mason Sr. has served as Senior Servant of the Saunders Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Hertford North Carolina, since 1997. Bishop Mason was born in Richmond, Virginia to Janice Butler and Clarence Mason. Bishop Mason grew up in Surry, Virginia where he attended and graduated from the Surry County Public School System. As a youth, accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the First Baptist Church located in Dendron, Virginia . He was very active in various ministries within the local church. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army where he served in various parts of the country. While serving in the military, his first assignment was in Karlsruhe, Germany for a period of two years. After his tour was completed in Germany, he relocated to Columbus, Georgia where he was called into the Gospel Ministry. He was licensed to preach the gospel at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus Georgia in March 1991 under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Ralph Huling. After spending two years in Columbus, Georgia he relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska. While serving in the military for total of eight years, he received various awards, citations, certificates and degrees. He has completed a diversity of courses to include Management Development, Leadership Development, and Concern for Community and Family Development. He is a graduate of Troy State University, Troy Alabama and Norfolk State University; Norfolk, Va. Bishop Mason received his Master of Pastoral Counseling and Doctorate of Ministry degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camillia Georgia on May 27, 2005. In addition to his earned degrees, Bishop Mason was bestowed with an Honorary Doctor of Ministry degree from Great Commission School of Ministry, Kansas City, Missouri. Bishop Mason was elevated to the office of Bishop in June 2005 and appointed Jurisdictional Bishop for the New Vision World Wide Fellowship of Churches Kansas City, Missouri where Bishop Larry B. Aiken serves as the Prelate Bishop. In addition to providing pastoral leadership to the Saunders Grove Missionary Baptist Church, he also serves as the President of the Ministerial Alliance of the Roanoke Missionary Baptist Association consisting of seventy-three churches, President of the Perquimans County Ministers for Education and former President of the Perquimans County Fellowship. Bishop Mason and his committed partner in ministry, Maxine, have a son, Landon B. Mason II.
